National Technology Day 2015

The National Technology day is observed on 11th May every year throughout the country. It signifies to India’s achievement on overall technological advancements. National Science Centre, Delhi is organising special programme from 10.15 AM to 12.00 noon on 11th May, 2015 for the benefit of school Students and visitors to the Centre. The following will be schedule for the event:-

1.     Popular Science Lecture on the topic  "LIGHT MATTERS IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY" by Prof. K. Thyagarajan, Head of the Department (Physics), Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. The lecture is suitable for class students of IX to XII or  visitors who have interest in the topic.

(About the Speaker: Prof. K.Thyagarajan is currently a Professor at the Physics Department, IIT Delhi. He is Visiting professor in France,  USA, Canada Hong Kong and Japan. He has published more than 140 research papers in international journals, has filed five patent applications and is the co-author (with Professor A. K. Ghatak) of seven books.He is recipient  of the "Fiber Optic Person of the Year 1997” , “Officierdansl’ordre des PalmesAcadémiques” by the French Government and was elected a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineers.  In 2011 he received the “Teaching Excellence Award” from IIT Delhi.)

2.     Open House Quiz on Indigenous Technologies:  Students from Class IX to XII can only participate in the quiz. Registration of individual students forthe quiz will be done 11th May 2015 at 10.00am on producing school ID.
